    We didn’t want to refurbish our Victorian floorboards either so spent £2k on a ‘floating floor’ which we hated the moment it was finished. Needless to say, we tore it up 2 years later & got matched Victorian timbers from a reclamation yard. The floating floor then made a really good if not absurdly expensive bonfire.
