How is your January going? I really wanted to focus on me for a little bit, I used to go to yoga 3 times a week, last year I went 3 times. I was also up to about 8 coffees a day and the more I drank the more tired I got! So a few days into January I did a 3 day juice diet, by 11am on the first morning I was rewarded with the fiercest of headaches but somehow I managed to get through the 3 days, no caffeine and no food!
Did I feel wonderful and sparkly? No I didn’t. Where is the sparkle? It’s been two weeks since the 3 days of juice and I’ve continued to start the morning with a mug of warm water, lemon and honey. My second drink is a coffee and I’ve managed to keep it to 1-2 a day. I’ve been making my own juice each day and I’ve joined a local hot yoga studio and have been 3 times so far, woohoo I’ve equalled 2016!
Do I feel wonderful and sparkly? No! However, I am definitely less fuzzy headed but where’s the glow, the abundance of energy, the clear mind and clarity? I’m determined to get there, so I shall keep going and hope that another few weeks of clearing out the neglect I inflicted for a whole 12 months will lead to a clear head and limitless energy… I shall let you know.
For now, here’s my favourite juice recipe. I use a Nutribullet for the whizzing and it makes two full jam jars (easier to keep in the fridge)
3 apples, cored
1/2 a cucumber
2 big handfuls of baby spinach/watercress/rocket
Juice of half a lime
1 tsp wheat grass powder
100ml mineral water
A tbsp of honey (if you feel the need to sweeten it)
A sprinkle of cacao nibs (optional)
Add everything (except the nibs) to your juicer / nutribullet, blend til smooth, decant into jars, chill and store in the fridge til you are ready to drink.
